Piano and Gun-Safe Moving
Nobody should hand a piano or a gun safe to a couple of buddies with a hand truck, and certainly not to day-labor. Here, that work goes to Wade Antonelli, who has spent twelve years moving uprights, baby grands, and gun safes and routinely walks them down three flights of a Wollaston walk-up and into the new home without leaving a mark. The piece gets padded, boarded, and rolled, the flat rate goes in writing, and the trucks and the crew are all ours.
What We Move
Uprights, consoles, baby grands, full grands, and those hulking old player pianos that came with the three-decker. Heavy gun safes too, the five-hundred-pound-and-up sort, taken down a cramped staircase and squeezed through a narrow Houghs Neck doorway. Anything heavy, unwieldy, and genuinely valuable lands on Wade’s plate.
How We Do It
- Padding and shrink-wrap go on first, with the lid, lyre, and legs guarded or pulled off as the piece requires
- The weight rides a piano board on straps, and rollers carry it across the flat stretches
- Each landing is mapped before we start, since these triple staircases leave zero margin for error
- Gun safes ride weight-rated heavy-duty gear and are never wrestled by hand
- At the new place the piece is leveled and set down on the exact spot you choose

The Three-Decker Staircase
The stairs are the whole reason families ring us for this. A Wollaston or Quincy Center triple staircase runs narrow with a hard turn at every landing, and easing a baby grand down three flights calls for a crew that has logged a hundred of them. Wade has. The carry is planned before anyone lays a hand on the piece.
